Within the framework of the trilateral meeting in Urumqi with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Serik Zhumangarin, Secretary of the XUAR Party Committee Ma Sinjui and Secretary of Commerce and Economic Development of the Hong Kong SAR (PRC) Algernon Yau, a number of topical issues related to the export of livestock and crop products from Kazakhstan to the XUAR and Hong Kong were voiced.

Vice Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan Amangali Berdalin stressed that China is one of the most priority trade, economic and investment partners of Kazakhstan. He noted that producers are interested in exporting livestock products to Hong Kong, including game meat, beef, lamb, pork and poultry, honey, feed additives, as well as crop products such as cereals, flour, oilseeds, vegetable oils and dairy products.
However, there are problems hindering the supply of agricultural products.
In order to export livestock products from Kazakhstan to Hong Kong, it is necessary to conclude Protocols for each product with the Hong Kong Veterinary Service. Joint work on the coordination of a number of livestock products for export with the Department of Food Hygiene and Environment of the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan has begun. The Kazakh side also proposed to carry out trial deliveries of wheat flour to Hong Kong through the Chinese port of Lianyungan.
To date, Protocols have been signed between Kazakhstan and China for the export of 9 types of livestock products from Kazakhstan to China.
This year, temporary restrictions imposed by the Chinese side on avian influenza (from all over the country) and foot-and-mouth disease (from the south-eastern regions) were lifted, two Protocols on the export of animals and livestock products from Kazakhstan to China were signed - for the supply of slaughtered cattle and cattle skins between the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Main Customs Administration of the People's Republic of China. A protocol on the export of poultry products and offal is being prepared for signature.
In order to expand exports to China, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Republic of Kazakhstan is working to harmonize veterinary requirements for other types of livestock products, such as chilled meat, horse meat, meat products that have undergone heat treatment, offal obtained during animal slaughter.
To date, there are 43 Kazakhstani enterprises in the Register of Enterprises accredited in the People's Republic of China.
