The tourism sector is one of the most dynamically developing in East Kazakhstan. Today, it is becoming a launching pad for the development of small and medium-sized businesses and a driver for its further development.
A unique international tourism project is planned to be implemented on Lake Markakol. Kanas Lakes in SUAR and Markakol lakes in East Kazakhstan region are planned to be connected by one tourist route. Today, Kanas Lake in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region of China is visited by up to 10 million domestic tourists annually.
The relief and nature of these places are identical to Lake Markakol, while the lake of East Kazakhstan is many times larger, and therefore it has a huge tourist potential. Unfortunately, there is no necessary infrastructure on the lake yet, but such a combination with an already successful tourist project will give a new impetus to attract travelers to Markakol.
- This project will attract thousands of tourists, as it will be completely unique. Now the issues of opening a new border crossing near the village of Terekty and building a road directly to the lake are being worked out," Governor of the East Kazakhstan region Yermek Kosherbayev said at a briefing in the Central Communications Service.
It should be noted that a lot of work has been done in the region over the past few years to develop tourism in the region. In addition to infrastructure development, courses on meeting tourists and menu preparation are organized for entrepreneurs in the service sector.
The brand events "Shygys Salburyny", "Altay Fest" are becoming the hallmark of the tourism industry of East Kazakhstan.
The construction of airports in Katon-Karagai and Zaisan will certainly have a positive effect on the development of tourism in several regions of East Kazakhstan at once. The sites have already been identified, and the construction of air harbors will begin next year.
