Rasul Asankhanov, an athlete from Shakhtinsk, became the bronze medalist of the World Youth Boxing Championship born in 2006-2007. The boxer competed in the weight category up to 92 kg.
The international championship was held in Budva (Montenegro). 600 athletes from 73 countries of the world demonstrated their skills and strength.
Rasul Asankhanov, a pupil of the boarding school-college of the Olympic Reserve named after A. Moldagulova, defeated Kuo Chao, a boxer from China, in the quarterfinals. But in the semifinals he lost to the heavyweight from Uzbekistan Halimjon Mamasoliev. As a result, the Karaganda resident finished his performance at the World Championships with a bronze medal.
– I didn't have enough experience and stamina to win, but it's all solvable. I will work even harder in training. The preparation for the World Cup took 8 months, there were a lot of training camps and sparring sessions. It was hard to get into the national team," admitted the Karaganda boxer.
In the near future, 17-year-old Ruslan Asankhanov plans to win the Kazakhstan championship, the World Cup and the Asian Championship, as well as get into the adult national team.
It should be noted that this year Ruslan Asankhanov also became the bronze medalist of the Asian Championship in Astana. The athlete is coached by Darkhan Dyusembekov.
