The issue of how the transport and logistics infrastructure of the region will be developed was considered during a staff meeting chaired by Akim of the region Askhat Shakharov.
Doszhan Alibekov, Head of the Department of Industrial and Innovative Development of the Aktobe region, stressed the favorable geographical location of the region, which borders the Orenburg region of Russia and six regions of Kazakhstan. As the head of the department noted, this creates favorable conditions for expanding cross-border trade and strengthening economic cooperation.
In the first nine months of 2024, the trade turnover between Kazakhstan and Russia, including the Aktobe region, increased by 23%, reaching 1.2 billion US dollars. It is planned to actively develop cross-border hubs, which will help the region become an important link in international trade and logistics. The creation of a free economic zone at A. Moldagulova Airport will be an important step in this strategy, providing new opportunities for investors, businesses and international partners.
"The project to create a Special Economic Zone is aimed at developing the transport and logistics infrastructure of the region and will significantly increase the transit potential of the Aktobe region. It is planned to create nine key industries in the field of transport and logistics and 29 industries, which will ensure the further development of the region and attract foreign investment," Doszhan Alibekov said.
The territory of the FEZ will be 858 hectares. The Turkish company S Sistem Lojistik, together with Kazpost JSC, has already begun construction of a logistics hub at the airport. This project will create 130 new jobs and will be an important step in the development of transit transportation. A land plot of 10.0 hectares has been determined on the territory of the airport.
The uniqueness of the project lies in increasing the volume of cargo transportation and flights through the airport, which will open up new opportunities for the export and import of goods. The main consumers of the logistics hub's services will be commercial and industrial companies of the Aktobe region, as well as partners from nearby and distant countries.
It is worth noting that key transport and logistics centers such as Wholesale and Retail Trade Enterprise LLP and Astyk Logistics LLP are already operating in the region, which ensure effective supply chain management and transportation of goods.
Akim of the region Askhat Shakharov stressed that the creation of the FEZ will become a catalyst for attracting investments, increasing trade turnover and improving the logistical accessibility of the region. The implementation of the project will take Aktobe to a new level, turning it into a strategically important hub of international trade and transit.
