On December 6, 2024, the international rating agency Fitch confirmed the credit rating of Almaty at the level of "BBB", the forecast is "Stable". At the same time, the independent credit rating of the city of Almaty has been confirmed at the level of "BBB+".
The high independent credit rating of the city of Almaty is due to the dynamic development of the economy, a significant increase in local budget revenues and a low debt burden of the budget, which corresponds to the "AAA" category.
In 10 months of 2024, the city's short-term economic indicator accelerated to 5.2%. The growth is accompanied by business and investment activity. Investments in fixed assets increased by 8.2% to 1.3 trillion tenge. According to the results of 11 months of 2024, local budget revenues increased by 21.2%, amounting to 1,753 billion tenge.
An independent credit rating at the BBB+ level will allow the Akimat of Almaty to issue green bonds for the implementation and development of large infrastructure projects.
