Preparations for the upcoming flood period in Bukhar-Zhyrau district began in the summer. The emergency department told about the work in areas under potential threat of flooding.
To prevent flooding, backfilling, digging of canals, installation of culverts, etc. are underway.
Last spring, there was a threat of flooding by flood waters of residential buildings in the village of Zhastlek. To improve the passage of meltwater entering this site, experts decided to expand and deepen the ditch and additional installation of three pipes in the area of the access road.
Also, in the village of Mustafina and at the Nura station, work was carried out to strengthen protective structures, strengthen the existing shaft and build a new shaft with a length of 330 meters. Similar work has been carried out in the villages of Yntymak and Sarytobe.
– Currently, the construction of a protective shaft on Novostroika Street is being completed in the village of Sarytobe. They are coming to the end of work on strengthening and lifting the lowered sections of the defensive rampart in the village of Zhanatalap. 90% of the work has been completed here," said Ersin Zhunusbekov, Head of the Emergency Department of the Bukhara–Zhyrau district.
The village of Chkalova is also at risk of flooding due to the annual increase in water discharge from the Samarkand reservoir. It was decided to strengthen the territory of the village by building a dam along the Nura River. Also, the channel of the cleaning device coming from Temirtau was turned towards Nura. The length of the newly created channel is 300 meters. This will help significantly reduce the risk of flooding, experts say.
More than 14 thousand tons of inert material were harvested – this is rubble stone, rock mass, sand, crushed stone and sacking. In case of a threat, the material will be used to prevent overflows.
The construction of a storm drain on Toregozhina Street in the village of Botakara has also been completed, the culverts of the Baikadam dam have been strengthened, similar work has been carried out on other flood-prone areas of the district.
