192 INVESTMENT PROJECTS HAVE BEEN DEVELOPED IN TURKESTAN, CREATING MORE THAN 7 THOUSAND JOBS

At the meeting, chaired by the akim of Turkestan region Darkhan Satybaldy, the forecast of socio-economic development of the city of Turkestan was considered. Due to the presence of historical and ancient monuments located in the vicinity of the city, tourism is developing in the region. Special economic and industrial zones also distinguish Turkestan as the center of the region. The head of the region noted the need to improve infrastructure for the development of the city and instructed to intensify work in this direction.
– The population of the city is growing, there is a workforce. There are all opportunities for development. The construction of an international airport, the location on the Western Europe – Western China transport corridor and the railway junction stimulate the attraction of tourists. Recently, many agreements were signed at the investment forum, which will contribute to the economic growth of the city. But we need to continue to attract investments. By 2030, Turkestan should become a self-financing city. Step up the work in this direction," said Darkhan Satybaldy.
Akim of Turkestan Azimbek Pazylbekuly made a report, saying that the population of the city exceeded 234 thousand people. The economically active population numbers more than 83 thousand people, of whom almost 80 thousand are employed, and more than 30 thousand are self-employed. The mayor of the city said: "We will increase the volume of the gross regional product of the city by 2.8 times by 2030."
Over the past four years, 1.3 trillion tenge of investments have been attracted to the city's economy. In the next six years, it is planned to increase investments in fixed assets to 4.6 trillion tenge.
The meeting was also attended by the heads of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Industry and the Department of Tourism of the Turkestan region, presenting their proposals.
A number of projects are planned to be implemented in Turkestan in the next six years. Within the planned period, a pool of 192 investment projects with a total value of 541 billion tenge was created, which will create more than 7 thousand new jobs. The volume of the gross regional product will grow 2.8 times and reach 1.1 trillion tenge, and the volume of attracted investments will increase 3 times to 1.2 trillion tenge. Local revenues will grow 2.2 times to 81.2 billion tenge. The number of foreign tourists will increase by 2 times, reaching 20 thousand people. The unemployment rate is planned to be reduced to 4.7%, creating about 22 thousand new jobs. The commissioning of housing will amount to 2.411 million square meters. There are 34 projects in the manufacturing industry with a total cost of 142 billion tenge, which will create 3,575 new jobs.
The total area of the special economic zone is 180 hectares, where it is planned to implement 15 projects worth 126 billion tenge, creating 3,050 new jobs. The industrial zone covers 190 hectares and includes 21 projects with a total cost of 10.5 billion tenge, providing 954 jobs. In the future, it is planned to implement 19 more projects worth 15.8 billion tenge, which will create 525 new jobs.
In the coming years, the volume of construction work is projected to grow by an average of 17% per year. Within the framework of private investment projects, it is planned to invest 243.9 billion tenge in construction and create 2,552 new jobs within the framework of 136 projects. The bulk of the gross regional product of the city falls on wholesale and retail trade, where it is planned to implement 8 projects worth 6 billion tenge, creating 340 jobs.
Tourism remains the main direction of the city's development. Over the past two years, 74.2 billion tenge of investments have been attracted to this sector, and 53.5 billion tenge is expected this year. In the future, it is planned to implement 13 projects with a total cost of 145 billion tenge, creating 955 new jobs.
