Small and medium-sized businesses are developing intensively in the Karaganda region. The number of people employed in this field has exceeded 230 thousand people.
Akim of the region Ermaganbet Bulekpayev told about the development and support of entrepreneurship at a briefing in the Central Communications Service.
– There is a stereotype that Karaganda is only coal and steel giants. But over the past 10 years, the structure of the economy has undergone tremendous changes. And today Karaganda is a large center, the core of an agglomeration with a high share of trade and services. In our region, almost every second working resident is employed in the field of small and medium–sized businesses," the head of the region noted.
State support contributes to the development of entrepreneurship.
The governor of the region cited the example of the metalworking enterprise Inkar 1. With the assistance of the state, it was able to expand from five jobs to 115.
– We are one of the first in the country to reduce the retail tax to 2%. As a result, the number of individual entrepreneurs paying retail tax has increased 16 times and amounts to 2.5 thousand. Over the 8 months of this year, tax revenues from SMEs increased by 16%, – added Ermaganbet Bulekpayev.
