The final meeting of the Athletics Federation of Kazakhstan for 2024 was held with the participation of the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerbol Myrzabosynov. The event was attended by the President of the Athletics Federation, Danial Akhmetov, heads of regional federations, athletes and representatives of the Federation.
At the meeting, Danial Akhmetov presented a report on the work done by the Federation, noting a number of important achievements. Among them are the high results and victories of Kazakhstani athletes at international competitions, as well as new initiatives aimed at the development of athletics.
During the meeting, Danial Akhmetov announced the early termination of his powers and proposed the candidacy of the famous track and field athlete, Olympic champion in London, Olga Rypakova for the post of president of the Federation. The participants of the meeting, including the heads of regional federations and the sports community, unanimously supported her candidacy.
Minister Erbol Myrzabosynov thanked Danial Akhmetov for his fruitful work as President of the Federation and wished success to Olga Rypakova in her new position.
"Athletics is one of the most popular sports in our country. Today, more than 360 thousand of our compatriots are professionally engaged in this sport. Therefore, we must take athletics to a new level and strengthen its popularity in the international arena. At today's meeting, important changes have taken place in the work of the Federation. Danial Akhmetov, who headed the Federation for several years, is completing his term of office. I thank him for his significant contribution to the development of sports. Under the leadership of Danial Kenzhetayuly, our athletes have achieved outstanding success in international competitions. Olympic champion Olga Rypakova now holds the position of President of the Federation. Olga Sergeevna has made a huge contribution to the development of Russian athletics. We are confident that she will continue to promote athletics in our country to new heights," said Erbol Myrzabosynov.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister instructed Olga Rypakova to pay special attention to the development of international cooperation in athletics, the training of athletes and reserves.
