The IX International Theater Festival was opened in Shymkent today as part of strengthening cooperation and friendly ties between the countries of Central Asia and the Turkic-speaking states in the field of theatrical art.
The festival dedicated to the 95th anniversary of the Shymkent city Academic Kazakh Drama Theater named after Zh. Shanina was opened by the Chairman of the Committee of Culture Kumis Seitova, reading out a congratulatory message on behalf of the Minister of Culture and Information of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
"I cordially congratulate you on the 95th anniversary of the theater! Shymkent city Academic Kazakh Drama Theater named after Zh. Shanina occupies an important place in the development of spiritual life and national culture. Throughout its almost century-long history, the theater has consistently remained the center of professional art, delighting the audience with highly artistic productions. Such masters of art as Khadisha Bukeeva and Amina Umirzakova worked in the theater. And today, the Kazakh Drama Theater continues to delight the audience with its high-quality performances."
Over the course of six days, the best performances of theaters from Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Turkey, Karakalpakstan, Tatarstan, Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan will be shown. The festival program includes round tables to discuss performances with the participation of leading theater critics, as well as master classes for directors, actors and managers of theatrical business, which will be conducted by invited foreign teachers.
The event will last until November 11.
