Farmers who use water-saving technologies pay less for irrigation water. When using water-saving systems, the amount of water subsidies has been increased to 85%.
"This measure is aimed at stimulating farmers to more actively implement water-saving technologies. The introduction of modern irrigation systems will save about 20-30% of water and will contribute to an increase in the country's acreage to 1.3 million hectares in 2030," said Berikbol Mandibayev, Director of the Department for the Development of Water–Saving Technologies.
Recall that the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation has developed a Roadmap for water conservation for 2024-2026. The document provides for measures to improve water legislation, digitalize the water industry, introduce modern water metering systems and modern water-saving technologies.
Also this year, subsidies for farmers' costs for infrastructure supply, purchase and installation of water-saving systems were increased from 50% to 80%.
Specific instructions on the introduction of water-saving technologies have been given to the regional akimats. Master plans have been approved and prepared until 2030 for the implementation of such systems on acreage.
