To fulfill the instructions of the Head of State, an information and analytical center for water resources has been established at the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation. The Center will become one of the leading institutions in the country, which will develop proposals for the effective use and protection of the water fund, the development of irrigation networks, as well as conduct information and analytical work.
The Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry, together with the Ministries of Ecology and Natural Resources, Emergency Situations, as well as the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, is developing an information system for forecasting and modeling floods Tasqyn. The system will allow you to prevent emergencies and make forecasts for making strategic decisions. The information system is planned to be launched by the end of the year.
The Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation, within the framework of a memorandum with the Delft Institute of Water Education IHE Delft, is developing an information system for forecasting river flows based on the Talsim and Delft-FEWS platforms. Within the framework of the pilot project, models of the Yesil and Nur-Sarysu basins are being created. The Delft-FEWS software application is being adapted for data analysis and model integration.
The Ministry is working to digitalize 3,500 km of irrigation networks. Today, a project is underway to reconstruct water stations with the installation of an automated water metering system on 5 channels in the Kyzylorda region.
By 2026, 16 irrigation channels will be automated in Turkestan, Zhambyl and Zhetisu regions. By the end of 2027, work will be carried out to digitalize 16 irrigation channels in the Kyzylorda region.
As a result, the ministry intends to reduce irrigation water consumption by 500 million cubic meters per year.
