The VI International Forum on the theme "Energy Efficient Partnership: a new Reality" has started in Astana today.
The Forum focuses on issues of digitalization of industry with an emphasis on energy efficiency, the role of energy conservation in low–carbon development, environmental protection, CBAM and ESCO mechanisms, as well as energy efficiency improvement in the public sector and buildings. Special attention will be paid to the issues of informing and involving the population in energy saving processes.
During the event, Vice Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhannat Dubirova made a welcoming speech.
As the Vice Minister noted, with the growth of Kazakhstan's economy, the need for energy resources is only increasing. Over the past 5 years, the total energy consumption in the country has increased by 12%, where two thirds of consumption is accounted for by the housing sector and industry. To improve energy efficiency in various sectors of the economy, the Government is pursuing a targeted policy.
Zhannat Dubirova spoke about such functioning tools as the State Energy Register, Energy audit, and five-year plans for energy efficiency measures. Also, within the framework of the State Energy Register, more than 2 thousand energy audits were carried out in the period from 2015 to 2023, as a result of which energy efficiency measures were implemented in the amount of 443 billion tenge. Savings in the amount of 129 billion tenge were received. As a result, the energy intensity of the industrial sector has been reduced by 48%.
Deputies of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Baurzhan Smagulov and Yedil Zhanbyrshin, Managing Director of the German Energy Agency Dena Kristina Haverkamp, President of Nazarbayev University Ahmad Vakar also spoke during the forum.
"Energy-efficient partnership 2024" was held in the format of plenary sessions, panel sessions and industry podcasts. Among the main directions of the forum are the topics "Innovations and technologies", "Legislation and policy", "International experience and cooperation".
The forum is attended by representatives of line ministries and government departments, local executive bodies, the business community, associations, international organizations, as well as leading manufacturers of energy-efficient technologies and equipment.
The forum hosted the "Green Awards 2024" award ceremony, a plenary session on "Energy Efficiency Partnership: a new reality", panel sessions "Energy Saving in the housing sector and buildings", "Decarbonization of industry in Kazakhstan", "Strategies and regulation in energy conservation. Automation, digitalization and standardization".
