The Ministry of Transport is systematically working on testing and introducing new technologies into the road industry. This year alone, Kazakhstani scientists are testing 12 new technologies on highways of national importance. Thus, as part of the development of the road construction industry, KazdorNII JSC launched a Single database of road construction materials and innovative technologies in a pilot mode. Its goal is to improve the quality of roads and increase transparency in the road construction sector, support domestic production and science, as well as prevent fraud and lobbying of technologies and materials.
At the moment, 112 product names have been entered into the database. 37 received the "green status" (passed laboratory and monitoring control), 23 received the "yellow status" (access to experimental sites after laboratory tests), and 52 received the "gray status", which implies passing primary laboratory tests. The systematization of data helps to identify and use the most effective solutions that improve the safety and quality of roads.
A number of unique domestic developments have been tested at the pilot sites this year. Including the latest developments of KazdorNIA scientists: bitumen and asphalt concrete modifier Qsmart-PM, which increases the resistance of coatings to deformation (tested on the Kapshagai-Kurty highway section), eco-friendly and effective up to -25 °C anti-icing reagent QSmart-AntiGlaze (tested on the section of the Astana Bypass highway and organo-soluble paint for road markings with improved weather resistance and long service life of QSmart-RoadPaint (the pilot site is located on the Almaty-Bishkek highway.
Also in Kazakhstan, the QELAST modifier, the ALFADOB adhesive additive, as well as various mixtures and additives for soil, cold asphalt and Go Green sealant are being tested.
Each of these technologies undergoes mandatory scientific and technical support for two years to fully assess their effectiveness.
Work on the creation and filling of a Single database will reduce the cost of repairing and building roads, ensure their durability, reduce the impact on the environment and improve road safety.
