At the meeting of the Kazakh-Russian business Council "Modern aspects of economic cooperation" within the XVI Forum of interregional cooperation between Kazakhstan and Russia, the main topic of discussion was the presence of barriers to trade.

Director of the Department of economic integration of the Ministry of trade and integration Temirlan Zhantasov: "the reason for the preservation of barriers is the desire of individual States to benefit from integration processes and the reluctance to open their own market. The situation is aggravated by the use of various barriers at the regional level."

Zhantasov added that " the presence of barriers in the domestic market of the EAEU is one of the factors of reducing economic activity."

Thus, the trade turnover of the border regions of Kazakhstan and Russia decreased over the past year.

If in January-August 2018, the mutual trade of the border regions of our countries amounted to $ 1.3 billion., then for 8 months of this year it amounted to only $ 1.2 billion. The decrease was the result, among other things, of a number of tacit measures applied in the border regions of Russia in relation to Kazakh products, expressed in the restriction of trade spaces for Kazakh products.

The representatives of both Kazakhstan and Russia noted the illegality of the operation of pre-notification points along the Kazakh-Russian state border, where veterinary and phytosanitary control is carried out in respect of Kazakh products.

Earlier, discussing the problems in cross-border trade, Vice-President of the chamber of Commerce of the Russian Federation Vladimir Padalko addressed the representatives of the Russian authorities: "Why do we generate this canvas from which we suffer?". And asked the representative of the Kazakh Ministry of trade to help in negotiations with Moscow: "Please convey to the presidents of Russia and Kazakhstan the request of Russian business, our desire to remove barriers."

The Director of the Department of Ministry and integration of Kazakhstan noted that the Ministry of trade and integration, the main indicator of work - free entry of goods to the common market: "So support our position on the question of removing the barriers from the Russian business is an important factor."

"The goods produced in our countries should freely enter the common market," zhantasov concluded.
