On February 20, 2025, an eco-hub was launched in Almaty on the basis of Satbayev University as part of the republican program "Clean Kazakhstan". The project is aimed at involving students in the issue of separate waste collection and forming an ecological culture among young people. It is planned to launch such eco-hubs in each educational institution, thus expanding the project to the city level. In the eco-hub, students can recycle plastic and turn it into various items: watches, animal figurines, keychains, etc. In addition, specialists will conduct master classes and provide information on the issue of greenwashing."We believe that students can be a key force in forming an ecological culture and, through proper management, together with us, will significantly affect the indicators of the "Clean Kazakhstan" program. We believe that in the near future other universities in Almaty will also apply to participate in our “Green University” program,” said the founder of the eco-hub, Evgeny Mukhamedzhanov.Manakhabek Mereibek, a 4th-year student, noted that the university actively supports environmental initiatives. “We are glad to participate in such initiatives and are confident that other universities in the country will support environmental projects,” he said.It should be noted that KazGASA was named one of the first universities among the program partners, and several other universities in the city are also preparing to open eco-hubs. This indicates the growing interest of educational institutions in “greening” their activities. It should be recalled that the first eco-hub in Almaty was launched within the framework of the republican “Clean Kazakhstan” program, and currently active work is underway to recycle plastic waste. Bicycle shredders for shredding plastic have been installed, and extruders are operating, which allow it to be turned into various products. This project has become an important step in the development of environmental culture and continues to expand its capabilities. In the future, it is planned to combine all the developments and create an eco-track around the city. These measures will contribute to the formation of an environmental culture and increase the population's responsibility for the environment.

The task of developing Taldykorgan as a safe, comfortable, and green city in the coming years has been set. To implement it, specific plans for 2025-2026 have been developed, and the city budget has been increased by 33 percent. This was stated during an interview with journalists by the regional akim Beibut Isabayev, the press service of the Zhetysu region akim reports. In his speech, the head of the region focused on the priority areas of development of the regional center. At the same time, ensuring the safety of city residents is at the forefront. For this purpose, it is planned to install 585 video cameras to monitor public order and 136 "Sergek" cameras to ensure road safety. It is planned to launch a situational center that will be able to monitor the life of the city around the clock in the "Smart City" format. In addition, street lighting will also be taken up. Today, only 420 of the 640 streets in the city, that is, 65 percent, have lighting. In this regard, 3.5 billion tenge is allocated from the local budget for street lighting this year. Thanks to this, streets will be illuminated in a number of summer cottages and in the "Khutor", "Shygys" and other districts. At the same time, attention will be paid to making the city comfortable to live in. That is, the population must be provided with housing, heat, electricity, water, and gas. For example, last year, 1,283 families were provided with housing in Taldykorgan, and this year it is planned that the number of people who will acquire housing will reach about 1,500.The beauty of the city is directly related to landscaping. Therefore, the construction of workout areas in the courtyards, renovation of the roofs and facades of multi-storey buildings, and restoration of ditches and channels will continue. Last year, repairs were carried out on the roofs of 28 multi-storey buildings. The facades of 10 multi-storey buildings were made. This year, the roofs of 30 multi-storey buildings and the facades of 32 houses will be repaired.- The "Ulan" microdistrict in the city has not been repaired for more than thirty years. We discussed the issue of improving the area for a long time, conducted an examination, and made a decision. Through this, experience was formed. Now we are working comprehensively. Last year, we first repaired 5 courtyards of 25 apartment buildings, and this year we will finish the remaining courtyards. We will also repair the roofs of multi-storey buildings in the "Ulan" microdistrict that require repair. Then we will move on to the "Zhetysu" and "Zhuldyz" microdistricts, where we will carry out landscaping work in a comprehensive manner. That is, we will first cover the neglected peripheral areas of the city, - said B. Isabayev. As for landscaping, last year about 10 thousand trees were planted in Taldykorgan, and this year more than 12 thousand seedlings are planned to be planted. There are plans to build a new park with an area of 1.2 hectares in the "Kulager" microdistrict of the city. And a new square will appear in the "Birlik" microdistrict. In addition, the system of watering trees and lawns has been regulated. To date, about 10 kilometers of the drainage system have been repaired, and this work will continue this year. In addition, current repairs will be carried out in the Central and "Zhastar" parks. Press service of the akim of Zhetysu region. The Head of State noted that the country plays an active role in addressing issues of international security and stability. In 2024, Kazakhstan chaired a number of prestigious international organizations and platforms, which contributed to addressing pressing issues on the regional and global agenda. The successful chairmanship of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Turkic States Organization (TSO), the Council on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Consultative Meeting of the Heads of Central Asian States, and the International Aral Sea Saving Fund (IASF) was an important step in strengthening Kazakhstan's international influence, as well as expanding diplomatic opportunities.During Kazakhstan's chairmanship of the SCO, more than 160 events were held covering a wide range of topics, including economic cooperation, security, environmental initiatives, and digital transformation. The treaty framework was supplemented by 60 new documents strengthening cooperation between the participating countries. The main event of the chairmanship was the Astana Summit, which was held for the first time in the “SCO Plus” format. The main achievement of the CICA chairmanship was the transition to a new stage of institutional development. Kazakhstan took the initiative to digitize the interaction of the participating countries and launched a platform for the exchange of data and analytical materials. The chairmanship of the Organization of Turkic States was distinguished by the launch of the large-scale program “TURKTIME!”, which also contributes to strengthening cultural and economic integration. Within the framework of this initiative of the Head of State, projects in the field of education, scientific research and entrepreneurship were implemented. A mechanism of permanent representatives was established, state symbols were unified, and an Investment Fund was created to support strategic projects. The significant increase in mutual trade between the participating countries, which exceeded 45 billion US dollars, indicates the growing economic cooperation.During its chairmanship of the CSTO, Kazakhstan focused on promoting initiatives to counter such pressing threats as cross-border crime, terrorism and drug trafficking. Voluntary pension contributions are an effective way to replenish your pension capital 21.02.2025
The following types of contributions are made within the framework of the funded pension system in Kazakhstan: mandatory (10% of the employee's salary, deducted monthly by the employer), compulsory occupational pension contributions (5% of the income of workers in harmful and dangerous professions, paid from the employer's budget), as well as employer’s compulsory pension contributions (ECPC) from 2024 for all employees born in 1975 and later (from 1.5% in 2024 with a gradual increase to 5% in 2028, in 2025 - 2.5%). There are also voluntary pension contributions (VPC), which can be deducted by both individuals and legal entities. Individuals contribute funds for themselves and (or) for their loved ones from their income, and legal entities - in favor of their employees and (or) third parties. It is worth noting that citizens pay VPC on their own initiative, independently setting their amount and frequency. This is one of the advantages of this type of contribution.Voluntary pension contributions can be transferred through second-tier banks, as well as by submitting an application to the employer, on the basis of which he will transfer them to UAPF in favor of the declared person. The procedure for receiving pension payments through VPC is determined by the recipient independently in accordance with the UAPF pension rules. To conclude an agreement and open an individual pension savings account (IPSA) for VPC, there is no need to visit the UAPF office - IPSA for accounting of VPC, as well as for other types of pension contributions, is opened automatically. Opening of IPSA for accounting of VPC is carried out without an application on the basis of:lists of individuals submitted by agents to UAPF when transferring VPC;initial contribution received by UAPF from an individual in his/her own favor or in favor of a third party when transferring VPC.Identification of the individual in whose favor pension contributions are made is carried out using personal data (full name, IIN, date of birth) specified in the electronic format of the payment order when transferring VPC. UAPF receives all necessary information about the details of the current identity document of the individual, place of permanent residence and other information from the relevant information systems of state bodies. In Kazakhstan, voluntary pension contributions enjoy tax advantages. For example, VPC transferred by the employer in favor of the employee are not considered as income of an individual; for the employer, such expenses are deductible when calculating corporate income tax. That is, the employer in this case receives tax benefits.Voluntary pension contributions, as well as all types of compulsory ones, are invested and generate income for contributors. By default, pension assets are managed by the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan. However, contributors have the right to transfer pension savings to investment portfolio managers (IPM), which offer various investment strategies with different levels of profitability and risk. And if compulsory and compulsory occupational pension savings can be transferred to IPM up to 50%, then voluntary pension savings can be transferred to management in full. The transfer of IPM savings occurs upon the contributor's application, which can be submitted electronically in the personal account on the fund's website or at any UAPF branch. Based on the investment results, you can change the management company, but not more than once a year. Thus, participation in the management of pension assets is another advantage of VPC.Pension benefits through VPC can be received before reaching retirement age - starting from the age of 50. In addition, they are provided to persons with disabilities, as well as foreigners and stateless persons who have moved to a permanent place of residence outside the Republic of Kazakhstan, unless otherwise provided by the laws of the Republic of Kazakhstan and international treaties ratified by the Republic of Kazakhstan. An application for receiving pension benefit payments through voluntary pension contributions (VPC) is submitted to UAPF: online in your personal account on the enpf.kz website or in the UAPF mobile application, as well as in any division of the Fund. The amount of pension savings through all types of contributions can be easily monitored 24/7 also in your personal account on the enpf.kz website. It is worth noting that in the event of the death of a person with pension savings, including through voluntary pension contributions, they are inherited in the manner established by the legislation of Kazakhstan. In particular, the inheritance of pension savings is carried out by will or by law. When there is no will or does not determine the fate of the entire inheritance, as well as in other cases, inheritance by law comes into force. The UAPF website contains a list of the necessary documents for receiving pension benefit payments depending on the method of their submission to UAPF, requirements for their execution, as well as application forms and samples of their completion, a sample power of attorney. You can also pre-check the documents sent for pension payments from UAPF by using the UAPF electronic service "Preliminary check of documents for pension benefit payment".It should be noted that pension benefit payments from UAPF are made until the pension savings are exhausted.UAPF reminds that the timely adoption by the contributor of a decision to transfer voluntary pension contributions (VPC) will help to significantly replenish their pension capital and receive higher payments in the future. For reference: As of January 1, 2025, savings on voluntary pension contributions amounted to about 7.94 billion tenge, showing an increase of 50.3% over the year. This is the highest rate of growth of savings among all types of contributions. The number of IPSAs for VPC accounting increased by 10.7% over the year and amounted to 439,582 units. UAPF consulting services can be obtained via instant messengers (chat bot in WhatsАpp and Viber at +7 777 000 14 18), call center at 1418 (free call within Kazakhstan), on the corporate website enpf.kz, as well as on the official UAPF pages on social networks Instagram, Facebook, VKontakte, X (Twitter), Telegram, Odnoklassniki. UAPF was founded on August 22, 2013 on the basis of GNPF APF JSC. The founder and shareholder of the UAPF is the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan represented by the State Institution Committee of State Property and Privatization of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Trust management of UAPF pension assets is carried out by the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In accordance with the pension legislation, the UAPF attracts compulsory pension contributions, employer’s compulsory pension contributions, compulsory occupational pension contributions, voluntary pension contributions, as well as carries out enrollment and accounting of voluntary pension contributions formed at the expense of the unclaimed amount of guaranteed compensation for the guaranteed deposit, transferred by the organization carrying out mandatory guarantee of deposits, in accordance with the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On mandatory guarantee of deposits placed in second-tier banks of the Republic of Kazakhstan", ensures the implementation of pension benefits. The Fund also carries out accounting of target assets and target requirements, accounting and crediting of target savings (TS) to target savings accounts, payments of TS to their recipients in bank accounts, accounting for returns of TS in the manner determined by the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan within the framework of the National Fund for Children program (More details at www.enpf.kz)Source : https://www.gov.kz/memleket/entities/abay/press/news/details/941948

KAZNU SCIENTISTS ARE RESEARCHING THE ANTI-CANCER PROPERTIES OF THE TURKEY PLANTScientists of the Al-Farabi Kazakh National University have improved the methods of developing anti-cancer drugs. University specialists studied the turkey plant growing in the Ili-Balkhash region and determined its anti-cancer activity. The turkey has been widely used in folk medicine since ancient times. However, this plant has not been fully studied scientifically. For the first time, KazNU scientists conducted large-scale research aimed at identifying the phytochemical and biologically active substances contained in it. According to the researchers, this project will contribute to the development of domestic pharmaceuticals in the future."As a result of the project, it was found that the plant of the pea-colored camellia plant has high biological activity. Plant extracts were distinguished by antioxidant, antimicrobial and cytotoxic properties. For example, the ethanol extract showed strong antioxidant activity, and the ethyl acetate extract was effective against bacteria. For the purpose of prevention, mass distribution of warning materials was organized. Propaganda work is being carried out on the streets of the city. Volunteers, bloggers, media representatives and celebrities were involved in the campaign,” noted the head of the Cybercrime Department, police lieutenant colonel Talgat Bulegenov. He also named the most common types of fraudulent schemes.“The most common are calls on behalf of security specialists from banks, law enforcement agencies, the National Security Committee, and mobile operators. They also hack WhatsApp messenger accounts, and then start sending messages asking for money on behalf of the victim. Those who sell goods or services through the OLX.kz, Satu.kz trading platforms often fall under the sights of fraudsters. Here, fraudsters often ask to transfer an advance payment for the goods or follow a link to its delivery. I would like to note that selling goods through social networks Instagram and TikTok is a favorite place for fraudsters. As a rule, fake versions of accounts are opened, where they ask to pay the full cost of the goods. "Fraudsters also often lure people into investing in cryptocurrency and securities," warned Talgat Bulegenov. He recommends that fraudsters immediately contact the police.
