Kazakhstan Enhances International Cooperation in the Field of Copyright and the Digitalization of Collective Management 05.12.2025
Geneva, 1-5 December 2025 - Botagoz Zhaxelekova, Vice Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan, participated in the 47th session of the WIPO Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR). In her opening statement she expressed gratitude to the WIPO leadership for the productive organization of the session and for the support provided to Kazakhstan’s ongoing reforms in the area of intellectual property.Delegation of the Republic of Kazakhstan presented to the session participants an overview of national reforms, including the rollout of the Unified Digital Platform (UDP), a tool designed to enhance transparency, accountability and efficiency in the collective rights management system. The platform was also introduced to international professional associations interested in modern digital solutions and in advancing transparency in collective management processes.On the sidelines of the WIPO meetings discussions were held with the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Indonesia as well as representatives of Brazil and Saudi Arabia. The parties exchanged views on strengthening cooperation, contemporary approaches to the digitalization of copyright and Indonesia’s initiative to develop international solutions for the fair distribution of remuneration in the digital environment.Negotiations were also conducted with the WIPO leadership. During the meeting with WIPO Deputy Director General Sylvie Forbin Kazakhstani experience in digitalizing collective management organizations was presented. Ms. Forbin emphasized the significance of the reforms being implemented by Kazakhstan and expressed interest in the further advancement of the project, underscoring its innovative nature and its importance for the international professional community.Working discussions were also held with Habip Asan, Director of the Department for Transition and Developed Countries, Glenn McStravick, Director of the Application Incubator and Michel Allain, Senior Copyright Expert. Minister of Justice Yerlan Sarsembayev awarded representatives of the legal profession in honor of the Day of Advocacy 05.12.2025
On December 5, 2025, a solemn ceremony was held to honor members of the legal profession on the occasion of the Day of Advocacy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.Minister of Justice Yerlan Sarsembayev noted that since 2023, the Day of Advocacy has held official status and has become an important event promoting the development of the legal profession and the advancement of the rule of law. On the Demographic Situation for January–September 2025 26.11.2025
The population of Abay Region as of October 1, 2025, amounted to 597.3 thousand people, including 374.4 thousand urban residents (62.7%) and 222.9 thousand rural residents (37.3%). Compared to the beginning of 2025, the population decreased by 5.5 thousand people, or by 0.9%.Natural population changeOverall, in Abay Region for January–September 2025, the natural population increase amounted to 2229 people, which is 29.1% less than in January–September 2024 (3142 people). The total natural increase rate was 4.98 per 1000 population.According to information recorded in civil status acts submitted by the civil registry offices, the number of births for January–September 2025 amounted to 6200, which is 14.3% less than in the corresponding period of 2024 (7231). The total birth rate was 13.84 per 1000 population.During the reporting period, the number of deaths amounted to 3971, which is 2.9% less than in January–September 2024 (4089). The total mortality rate was 8.86 deaths per 1000 population.For January–September 2025, 37 infant deaths (under 1 year of age) were registered in the region, which is 36.2% less than in the corresponding period of 2024 (58 infant deaths). The infant mortality rate was 5.97 deaths per 1000 live births.Population migrationAccording to data provided by the migration service, for January–September 2025 the number of arrivals to the region amounted to 23624 people, while the number of departures totaled 31393. As a result of external and internal migration, there was a net loss of 7769 people.The main external migration exchange occurs with CIS countries. The number of arrivals from CIS countries amounted to 68 people (66%), and the number of departures was 140 people (89.7% of all migrants). The majority of arrivals and departures are associated with the Russian Federation.With non-CIS foreign countries, the migration balance was positive: 35 people arrived in the region, while 11 departed.Regarding interregional migration within the country, 9947 people arrived and 17,663 departed, resulting in a negative balance of 7716 people._________________________________________________________________________________________________________________Methodological explanationsThe natural growth rate is the difference between the total fertility and mortality rates.The total fertility rate is an indicator that determines the intensity of childbearing in relation to the entire population.
