The opening ceremony of the regional office of Euronews TV channel took place in Astana today.
Opening the office, Kazakh Minister of Culture and Information Aida Balayeva noted that the launch of Euronews is an important event for the information sector of Kazakhstan. She stressed that this is not just an expansion of the geographical presence, but also great opportunities to show the rich cultural heritage and modern development of Kazakhstan to the whole world.
"The head of State sets us a clear task to promote Kazakhstan's culture and tourism, as well as investment potential, and I am sure that the opening of the Euronews regional office in Kazakhstan will give a new impetus to this work. This office will become an important platform for dialogue between cultures, as well as for promoting new ideas and creative solutions. I am sure that projects will be born here that will not only strengthen mutual understanding between the countries, but also contribute to the global media space," the minister said.
As part of the cooperation, Euronews acted as an information partner of the World Nomad Games, which were held in September this year in Astana. The broadcast reached more than 39 million people worldwide.
10 programs, broadcasts and interviews dedicated to investment projects and the cultural heritage of the Kazakh people have already been published.
"Kazakhs are the heirs of the unique civilization of the Great Steppe and the traditions of the nomadic peoples of Central Asia. The state that emerged after the collapse of the Golden Horde in the form of the Kazakh Khanate, founded in 1465, was later reborn as an independent country — the modern Republic of Kazakhstan, which will celebrate its 35th anniversary next year. With a population of almost 20 million people, Kazakhstan holds an important place among the world's top 40 economies thanks to a range of economic and political reforms. Under the leadership of President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, political reforms are being successfully implemented, which allows us to celebrate this historic moment today — the opening of the Euronews office in Kazakhstan. We will inform an international audience about Kazakhstan's culture, economy and heritage by working with Kazakhstani entrepreneurs and artists, as well as creating original TV shows that will present new realities and a bright future for Kazakhstan," said Pedro Vargas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Euronews.
A key element of the cooperation is the implementation of the Euronews Academy project, which involves conducting training sessions and master classes to improve the skills of employees of domestic TV channels, which will have a positive impact on the professional skills of representatives of the Kazakh media.
Currently, work is underway to create 20 projects. These include a show about culture, art and lifestyle – "Modern Nomads", a regional show about business and economics – "East-West Connect" and interviews with regional personalities – "Voices from Central Asia".
