By the end of 2024, school canteens have been modernized in 600 educational institutions. More than 200 thousand children study there, the press service of the Ministry of Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan reports.
Modernization is aimed at reducing the gap in the quality of education between urban and rural schools by creating favorable and comfortable conditions for the education and upbringing of children, strengthening material and technical equipment, and improving the quality of the educational process. This initiative is being implemented as part of the presidential election program.
"The state annually allocates funds for the modernization of schools. On behalf of the Head of State, by the end of the year, 1,000 schools located in small towns, regional centers and villages are being upgraded in such key areas as major and routine repairs, the purchase of classrooms, furniture upgrades, library upgrades, and improved security conditions," said Roza Sembayeva, Deputy Director of the Infrastructure Development Department.
In addition, free meals have been provided to 1.7 million school students since September of this year. In order to organize high-quality nutrition, the Ministry has revised 7 regulatory legal acts. A norm has been included regarding the development of menus using domestic products produced in the region. Marriage commissions have been set up, which include parents, community leaders, as well as school administrators and health workers. Legislative norms on the procedure for the activities of monitoring groups for marriage commissions have been fixed.
It should be noted that together with the Ministry of Health, the nutrition standards of children in educational institutions have been revised and a new nutrition standard has been developed, the implementation of which is planned for 2025.
