Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov held a reporting meeting with residents of the East Kazakhstan region. The event was attended by members of the public, residents of the region, journalists, heads of regional sports federations, tourism entrepreneurs and athletes.
At the meeting, the head of the department spoke about the work of the ministry for the current year, reforms in the fields of tourism, sports and gambling, and also shared plans for the future.
The number of citizens who systematically engage in sports and physical education is increasing every year in the country. For example, 305,000 people are currently actively involved in sports in the East Kazakhstan region. More than 32.7 thousand children and teenagers are involved in physical education and sports.
Work is also continuing on the implementation of the state sports order. During the audit of per capita financing, violations were revealed: service providers were allowed to include people in the queue to attend free sections without prior selection. In this regard, the Department of Physical Culture and Sports was instructed to ensure the selection of suppliers in strict accordance with current legislation.
In the East Kazakhstan region, the expansion of sports infrastructure in rural settlements and cities continues through the construction of prefabricated modular sports facilities.
"As part of fulfilling the instructions of the head of state, the local akimat, together with the Ministry of Transport, identified sites for the construction of airports in Katon-Karagai and Zaisan districts. The construction of airports will increase the tourist attractiveness of the region and have a positive impact on the socio-economic development of the border areas," the minister said.
Measures to combat illegal gambling and ludomania were also discussed at the meeting. This year, the Law on Gambling and Lottery Activities was signed. This law is aimed at raising awareness among citizens, providing high-quality medical care and strengthening state control. The law provides for a ban on gambling and betting for government and military personnel, as well as for persons included in the Unified Register of Debtors.
It is planned to introduce criminal liability for the organization of online casino activities. There are also restrictions on advertising of betting shops and sweepstakes, as well as a ban on sending advertising messages about betting and gambling via SMS.
After the reporting meeting, the Minister held a personal reception for citizens, answered their questions and listened to their suggestions.
