Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerbol Myrzabosynov, who arrived in the East Kazakhstan region on a working visit, visited a number of sports facilities in the region and got acquainted with their work.
As part of the trip, he visited the Olympic champion Olga Rypakova Athletics Arena. The sports complex, commissioned in 2013, provides all the conditions for year—round training and competitions of any level, from regional to international.
In addition, the head of the department visited the Table Tennis Center in Ust-Kamenogorsk. The center was established on the basis of the regional children's and youth sports school of the Olympic reserve. Major tournaments, mass sporting events and training camps are held here. The building is equipped with modern sports equipment. There is a medical and physical education clinic for athletes, where they can undergo physiotherapy treatment and recover from competitions or injuries.
During the visit, the minister met with senior coaches of the region in Olympic, non-Olympic and national sports. The Minister listened to their suggestions and also noted the importance of developing sports in the region, improving the skills of coaches and improving the training of athletes.
The head of the regional department of Physical Culture and Sports, Askar Mozhanov, presented projects for the construction of an indoor football stadium and a tennis academy, the implementation of which was entrusted during the visit of the Head of State.
"The East Kazakhstan region is a region that has given the world talented athletes who have glorified our country. Outstanding hockey player Boris Alexandrov, Olympic champion, two-time Olympic medalist Olga Rypakova, bronze medalist of the Winter Olympic Games Yulia Galysheva in freestyle and many others were born here. The region is a key training center for national winter sports teams, which necessitates the rational use of resources.
The Asian Winter Games will be held in Harbin next year. 139 athletes from Kazakhstan will participate in 6 sports, including 15 representatives of the East Kazakhstan region. They will compete in biathlon, alpine skiing, short track and ice hockey," said Erbol Myrzabosynov.
