Prague, 26 August 2026 - Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the Czech Republic Kairat Abdrakhmanov met with Deputy Minister of the Environment of the Czech Republic Martin Weiss ahead of his forthcoming visit to Kazakhstan at the head of a Czech delegation.
Czech officials, representatives of specialised companies and higher education institutions are expected to discuss with their Kazakh counterparts effective water resource management, the development of municipal water supply systems and modern water treatment technologies. The forthcoming meetings in Astana, Almaty and Karaganda are intended to facilitate direct contacts between Kazakh and Czech organisations, promote the exchange of advanced technologies, and identify opportunities for implementing joint projects.
As the Czech delegation will visit Kazakhstan at a time of transformation of the country’s political system, Deputy Minister Martin Weiss was briefed on the outcome of the first elections to the new unicameral Kurultai, as well as on Kazakhstan’s international initiatives in the field of water diplomacy and sustainable water resource management.
Particular attention was given to the initiative of President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to establish an International Water Organisation under the auspices of the United Nations, aimed at consolidating international efforts in the field of water resources and developing effective collective solutions. The parties also touched upon cooperation between the delegations of the two countries within the framework of the Montreal Protocol on Substances that Deplete the Ozone Layer.
The parties reaffirmed their interest in further developing Kazakh-Czech cooperation in environmental protection, water management, municipal infrastructure, as well as the introduction of modern technologies for water treatment and the sustainable use of water resources.
The forthcoming visit of the Czech delegation to Kazakhstan will constitute a practical step towards further strengthening bilateral cooperation and expanding engagement among relevant government institutions, the business community and academia of the two countries, in line with the understandings reached during the visit of Prime Minister of the Czech Republic Andrej Babiš to Kazakhstan in April 2026.
