A lecture on "child safety – the future of society" is being held in the capital's schools.
"You are responsible for your actions, even if you are not yet 18 years old. Criminal liability for a number of crimes begins at the age of 14. Murder, serious and moderate harm to health, rape, theft, robbery, extortion, aggravated hooliganism – in all these crimes, a teenager over the age of 14 can be sentenced to imprisonment. Persons who have reached the age of 16 are subject to criminal liability for all types of crimes, including illegal trafficking and possession of drugs and weapons. If the offender has not reached the age of majority, then his parents will be responsible," said Bauyrzhan Askarov, deputy prosecutor of Nurinsky district.
The lecture, held in secondary school No. 101, covered topical issues of upbringing, the value of the family, the causes and consequences of juvenile delinquency, measures taken to prevent it, suicide among children, walking alone at night, visiting entertainment venues, the consequences of committing crimes and other illegal actions, the negative impact of information promoting delinquency in social networks on the development of young people, etc.
"If someone forces you or scares you, you should go to a place where there are many people. If forced into the car, shout loudly to attract the attention of passers-by. If a stranger writes offensive letters on the internet, you should immediately notify your parents, do not reply to his letters and do not send SMS. Before accepting a friend request, you should look at their profile and try to figure out who it is. Remember: sometimes people pretend to be a different person, and it is difficult to know if they are providing truthful information," said Meiram Talgatuly, district inspector for minors of the Nurinsky District Police Department.
According to the current laws, a person who has reached the age of 16 is subject to criminal liability.
"At the same time, criminal liability for committing a number of serious and especially serious crimes (murder, rape, intentional infliction of serious harm to health, kidnapping, kidnapping, robbery, extortion, knowingly false reporting of an act of terrorism, hooliganism under aggravating circumstances, etc.) begins at the age of 14. For the commission of these crimes, the sanctions provide for punishment in the form of imprisonment for a period of 5 to 20 years. The purpose of the lecture is to explain to young people how to avoid mistakes.
According to the speakers, students can always ask for help and support from parents, psychologists, teachers, law enforcement agencies, as well as by number 111 or through QR codes posted in schools.
"In certain cases, for serious violations committed by schoolchildren or students, his case is considered within the framework of the law," said Serik Adilbayev, deputy head of the Department of Education of Astana.
