By the end of 2024, the socio-economic development of the Mangystau region was stable, and the main macro indicators show positive results.
The main directions of the region's development are the processing industry, tourism, transport and logistics, small and medium-sized businesses, as well as the agro-industrial complex. In order to give a new impetus to the sustainable development of these areas, work is underway to attract investment to the region. Over the past five years, 4 trillion tenge has been invested in the region. In 2024-2026, 42 investment projects with a total investment value of 666 billion tenge are planned to be implemented in various sectors of the economy. Of these, 14 projects worth 36 billion tenge were launched in 11 months of this year, as a result, 435 new permanent jobs were opened.
Steady growth rates are maintained in the manufacturing industry. The share in the total production volume of the industry 5 years ago was 2.8%, and now this figure is at 6.2%, with an increase of 9.0%.
The region's agricultural sector is also gaining momentum. Compared to last year, in 2024, with an increase of 24.5%, products worth 34.5 billion tenge were produced. Of these, the volume of livestock production increased by 31.2%. 4 billion tenge was raised, and a food storage warehouse was put into operation.
In 2025, it is planned to implement projects for the construction of a greenhouse complex, the production of eggs and poultry meat worth 3.5 billion tenge. In addition, 3,300 olive trees were planted in the Karakiyansky district as a pilot project. If the expected result is achieved, this project is planned to be further developed.
All types of land, sea and air transportation are available in the region. The current goal is to make rational use of existing opportunities and further develop the potential of transport and logistics. 97% of local roads are in good and satisfactory condition. This year, 2 constructions and 10 reconstruction works are underway on 215 km of local roads.
Since the beginning of the year, the volume of cargo transshipment through the ports of Aktau, Kuryk and the Northern Terminal has amounted to 6.8 million tons, an increase of 3.4%. Transshipment of feeder cargo has reached 52.3 thousand container units, an increase of 2.5 times.
In 2024-2026, it is planned to modernize 44 kilometers of main heating networks to provide Aktau residents with high-quality utilities. This year, 11.5 kilometers of worn-out heat pipes were completely replaced as part of the 1st stage of the project. In order to gradually solve the problem of drinking water supply in the Mangystau region, 10 projects with a total desalination capacity of 140.5 thousand cubic meters are planned to be implemented by 2025.
After a 30-year hiatus, professional fishing began to develop in Mangystau. A number of investors were attracted to revive this type of economy, which developed rapidly during the Soviet era and then stopped. Modern vessels for fishing in the Caspian Sea have been purchased today. Four more vessels will be purchased next year. Thus, in 2025 it is planned to catch up to 20 thousand tons of fish in the sea.
For 11 months of 2024, entities operating in the field of small and medium-sized businesses produced products worth 1 trillion tenge. This year, 17.5 billion tenge has been allocated as part of a single comprehensive business support program. With these funds, 1,231 projects were supported and 411 jobs were saved. 373 new jobs are also being created.
This year, 215,000 tourists from foreign countries and regions of Kazakhstan visited Mangystau. This is a 20% increase compared to last year. The volume of services rendered in the field of tourism increased by 40%, amounting to 6.6 billion tenge.
There are also positive changes in the field of education. This year, 4 schools with 4,800 places have been commissioned in the Mangystau region, and 14 private educational institutions with 6,510 places have been opened. 13 schools are under construction as part of the Comfort School national project.
Aktau city bus fleet has also been updated by 100%. This year, it is planned to purchase 120 buses powered by methane fuel in Mangystau through leasing financing. To date, 70 buses have been delivered to the region, and delivery of the remaining 50 units is expected in February next year.
