Winter sports season opens in Astana with skiing festival

In total, 816 sports events are planned to be organized in Astana this year in accordance with the calendar plan of Physical Culture, Sports and health events. To date, 648 events have been held according to the plan. Among them are traditional competitions that are organized in honor of the opening of the winter season. This was announced by Deputy Head of the Department of Physical Culture and sports of Astana Islambek Baimanov at a briefing in the communications service of the capital, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
According to the speaker, the festival in skiing, the cup of the Republic of Kazakhstan in short track, The Open Championship of Astana in Figure Skating, the Open Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in speed skating, The Open Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan in speed skating, the Open Championship of Astana in short track, the festive mass run of the new year's Eve, the winter running competition "Astana run", the winter triathlon competition and the traditional ski festival "Burkasyn-2025" will be held.
"We plan to open the winter sports season in the capital with a ski festival. As you know the current weather, as soon as the snow falls, we open our season with a ski race, which has become a special tradition in Astana. According to the plan, this event is scheduled for December 16.
Thousands of residents and guests of the city gather for the opening of the annual winter season. Among them, schoolchildren, students, employees of power structures and representatives of the public will participate in sports events and compete among themselves. Victory here is not the main goal, because the ski festival is a special kind of family and corporate Recreation," says Islambek Baimanov.
And on December 8, The Capital's Triathlon Park will host a winter amateur race. Participants of the competition cover a distance of 10 kilometers.
