A mass race was held in Astana, residents of the city overcame a distance of 4 kilometers in the Botanical Park, the official website of the capital's akimat reports.
Despite the snowy weather, more than 1,000 amateur runners gathered in one of the attractions of the capital.
"Mass running is one of the most attractive sports for citizens. The number of participants in the races, which have been held regularly since April, has been growing over time. This sporting event is a vivid confirmation of that. Whatever the season, we don't stop running sports. A "family marathon" was organized on November 16, and a night race is scheduled for November 21. In December, residents are also waiting for several major competitions. In particular, the Astana Run will be held in the Triathlon Park on December 8, the annual Qysqy jugiru race will be held in mid-December, and a festive New Year's Mass will be held in the Botanical Park on December 31. Due to the interest in the race, the number of events is also growing," said Daulet Khamzin, the chief judge of the competition.
The age of the participants gathered at the race is from 11 years old, and the age of the oldest is 65 years old. Amateur runners not only covered 4 kilometers, but also received a special commemorative medal.
"The weather showed 0 degrees. Although it's cool for most, I keep running in a T-shirt. Why? Because we are members of the Walrus Cheerfulness Club. Especially in the cold, we run and dive into the water. For example, in 2021, I covered a distance of 21 kilometers at -27 degrees in 1 hour and 48 minutes without clothes.
