Today, the ceremonial opening of the annual national exhibition for the "One Village – One Product" (OVOP) initiative was held at the Kazmedia Center, featuring participation from over 40 producers. The exhibition will last for three days, from October 22 to October 24.
The overarching aim of the project is to manufacture distinctive products derived from local resources, subsequently facilitating their promotion in both domestic and international markets.
During the event, in his opening remarks, the Vice Minister of National Economy, Baurzhan Kudaybergenov, noted that the One Village – One Product (OVOP) initiative was launched in 2021 with the support of the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and funding from international development institutions.
The project commenced in a pilot mode in Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan, Kostanay, and Mangistau regions and is currently being implemented throughout the entire republic.
Over the past two years, 1,300 producers have participated in the exhibitions, with 131 finalists selected. The majority of participants are women from rural areas engaged in the production of food and textile products, as well as health-related goods.
Kudaybergenov further indicated that, commencing this year, to promote the advancement of produced goods, government grants of up to 5 million tenge will be exclusively allocated to social enterprises and project finalists.
“I am confident that our collaborative efforts in implementing this project will continue to yield significant results and contribute to the prosperity of our regions,” the Vice Minister concluded.
