As part of the program "Astana is a city without drugs", the capital's Aspan sports school held the republican Kyokushin budokai karate championship, the official website of the Mayor's Office of Astana reports.
The championship was organized with the support of the Department for Combating Drug Crime of the Astana City Police Department.
The purpose of the event is to inspire young athletes and create a positive image of a healthy lifestyle among young people.
"Athletes from 15 regions of the country gathered at our tournament. This is a qualifying tournament for the Asian Championship, and the participants demonstrate high competitiveness. In addition, the championship contributes to the formation of the desire of young people to lead a healthy lifestyle," said the organizer of the championship, Nursultan Aliakbarov.
Police Lieutenant Colonel and representative of the Anti-Drug Crime Department of Astana Aliya Kibatkyzy added that the event is aimed at demonstrating to children the importance of sports and a healthy lifestyle.
"Many athletes and coaches with high grades participate in the tournament, who show by their example that it is better to strive for sporting achievements than to use prohibited substances," she stressed.
The championship gathered about 400 participants, providing them with a unique competitive experience and strengthening team spirit before international tournaments.
