During the event, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Economy Nurlan Baibazarov informed about the Government's efforts to ensure gender equality in the country.
As noted by N. Baibazarov, the empowerment of women and the promotion of gender equality positively impact economic growth and societal development as a whole.
"In 2024, the proportion of women in small and medium-sized businesses reached 50.4%, while in public service, it accounted for 56%. Measures are being implemented to gradually increase the proportion of women to 30% in the governing bodies of state-owned companies," emphasized the Deputy Prime Minister.
Furthermore, he stated that comprehensive measures are being implemented to safeguard the labor rights of women. The Labor Code encompasses a comprehensive set of legal provisions aimed at ensuring gender equality in the equality of employment.
The government is implementing extensive support measures essential for business development, including initiatives specifically targeting women's entrepreneurship. During the period from 2021 to 2023, a total of 33,000 projects were supported through the subsidization of interest rates for women, while 23,000 projects received credit guarantees.
In addition, the institution of social entrepreneurship is undergoing significant development in Kazakhstan. Monitoring indicates that approximately 80% of social enterprises are led by women.
"The protection of rights and the safeguarding of the legitimate interests of families with children constitute a fundamental focus of our country's government policy. "To date, a national support model has been established in the form of allowances and benefits," concluded Baibazarov.
