Today, at a Government meeting, the Minister of Emergency Situations of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Major General Genghis Arinov, presented a report on measures to ensure fire safety. He spoke about the ongoing initiatives aimed at increasing the responsiveness and improving the combat readiness of the units of the Ministry of Emergency Situations.
The Minister said that one of the key areas of work is the creation of universal units, including firefighters, medics and rescuers. A pilot project has been successfully implemented in the Akmola region, which allows for quick and effective assistance to victims. This experience will be extended to other regions.
"This project will increase the readiness of units for rapid response," said Genghis Arinov.
In addition, the minister spoke about a new approach to the construction of fire stations. In particular, since August of this year, a fire station has been operating in Astana, built in 3.5 months from prefabricated structures. This method will be applied in other regions, where 121 new depots need to be built in general.
An important stage of work to ensure fire safety is the renewal of the material and technical base. This year, the department is purchasing 728 units of special vehicles and more than 18 thousand units of equipment and equipment. First of all, the equipment will be sent to the district units.
"We are also actively conducting exercises with the evacuation of residents from multi-storey buildings. This year, more than 250 such exercises took place across the country. In the near future, exercises involving helicopter equipment are planned to evacuate residents of high–rise buildings in Astana," the minister said.
Special attention is paid to prevention in the residential sector, where the main causes of fires are malfunctions of heating systems, especially furnace-type ones, in the homes of socially vulnerable citizens. Currently, more than 100 thousand such houses are registered with the department.
"Since 2021, more than 107 thousand carbon monoxide sensors have been installed, which made it possible to prevent the death of 248 people," the minister noted.
In addition, the minister reported on the problem of refueling gas cylinders at gas stations, many of which are subject to recycling. According to preliminary data, about 348 thousand cylinders need to be replaced. To solve this problem, control over the safe operation of gas equipment will be strengthened.
The Minister stressed that the heating period is under special control, and all departments of the Ministry are ready to respond to emergencies.
"The safety of citizens is our top priority. We will continue to improve the fire safety system to prevent tragedies and provide timely assistance," concluded the head of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Kazakhstan.
