"Astana ""center of Special Opportunities "" hosted a ceremony of seeing off blind athletes to the International Championship in Switzerland." This event was organized by the Republican public Association "Showtown Table Tennis Federation for blind people", according to the official website of the capital's mayor's office.
For the first time in the history of Kazakhstan, athletes who lost their eyesight had the opportunity to participate in the International Championship, which will be held from November 13 to 18 in Zurich (Switzerland).
62 athletes from 16 regions of the country will defend the honor of the country. Among them are three athletes from Astana – team captain Kerim Beksyrga, Vlada Bartusevich and Aidar Satashev.
"These athletes took 1-2 places at the showtown Table Tennis Championship of the Republic of Kazakhstan, which was held in Astana this year. As a result, he was selected and qualified for the International Championship.
All athletes have the first group of disabilities. Now that we are going for the first time, we want to gain experience and see the race of the left side. Of course, our main goal is to win prizes and defend the honor of the country," said Azamat Baimaganbetov, head coach of Table Tennis showtown.
It should be noted that the showtown Table Tennis Federation is developing sports for the blind in our country.
The federation is 3 years old and unites more than 200 athletes throughout the country. About 70 of them are athletes from Astana.
