Akim of the region Abai Nurlan Urankhayev held a meeting with the winner of the Kazakhstan Barysy tournament Yerasyl Kazhybayev and the bronze medalist of the tournament Sayat Shamshiev. This tournament, which has become a symbol of Kazakh wrestling, brought together the best athletes of the country, and both wrestlers brought pride and glory to their countrymen.
At the meeting, the mayor expressed gratitude to the wrestlers for their achievements, noting that their victories are not only sporting successes, but also a worthy example for young people, inspiring them to believe in their strength and overcome difficulties. As a sign of appreciation for their contribution to the development of sports and the popularization of national wrestling, on behalf of the sponsors, the athletes were awarded cars, and Yerasyl Kazhybayev received a certificate for a three-room apartment.
"I have been participating in Kazakhstan Barysy for the sixth time," Yerasyl Kazhybayev shared his impressions. — We have been preparing a lot, and it is a great honor for me to bring the victory home in honor of the revival of the Abai region. I dedicate this victory to my small homeland and intend to perform again next year."
Recall that the tournament brought together 42 best wrestlers from all regions of Kazakhstan and three cities of national importance: Astana, Almaty and Shymkent. Last year's champion "Kazakhstan barysy" and two representatives of "Asker barysy" were also among the participants.
Yerasyl Kazhybayev, known to Kazakhstani fans as both a sambo wrestler and a judoka, has achieved significant success in the international arena. He has won prizes at the Kazakhstan cadet and youth judo championships, a silver medal in team competitions at the 2018 Asian Games in Jakarta, as well as the title of Asian sambo champion in 2017 and bronze at the World Championships in 2016. He always performs in the heavyweight category, breaking the 100 kg mark.
The bronze medalist of the tournament, Sayat Shamshiev, who performs under the nickname Bolatshy, also has an impressive track record. Sayat is an international master of sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the champion of Kazakhstan in judo and the bronze medalist of the World Sambo Championship.
