This year, for the first time, a pair of athletes from Kazakhstan took part in the US Open Championship. More than 100 athletes from eight countries, including Kazakhstan, the USA, Canada, Colombia, Mexico, Japan, Portugal, Australia and Poland, competed for victory.
Kazakhstan was represented in category II-3 by two pairs of athletes from Astana – Valery Yugai in the age group 17 & Under and Alpamys Amir in the age group 18 & Over. They won prizes in various disciplines:

The wards of coach Ernur Sailaubek have undergone serious training, which allowed them to adequately represent Kazakhstan and demonstrate their skills in the international arena.
"We are proud that our para athletes were able to qualify and successfully compete in the final heats in all disciplines, winning medals for Kazakhstan. After successful performances, the team will focus on preparing for new starts in 2025, including the Virtus World Swimming Championships in Thailand and the Junior Para Asian Games in Tashkent," said Dina Temirgalieva, President of the NGO Federation of Sports for People with Intellectual Disabilities.
