Since the beginning of 2024, more than 700 cases of Internet fraud have been registered in East Kazakhstan region. This was announced by the senior operative of the Criminal Police Department of the DP East Kazakhstan Region, Senior police Lieutenant Nurai Arystanbek, at a briefing in the RSC East Kazakhstan region.

- Scammers are improving their schemes, finding new ways to access personal data. The most common methods include representation by employees of banks and public utilities, disguising themselves as government agencies, as well as hacking messengers," Nurai Arystanbek said.
Preventive measures are being actively carried out in the region to combat Internet fraud. Within the framework of the program of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan on countering cybercrime for 2023-2025, republican operational and preventive measures are carried out annually. From November 12 to 14, the Anti-Fraud OPM is taking place in the country, aimed at informing citizens about possible risks.
At the regional level in East Kazakhstan region, the third stage of the Stop Fraudster OPM is a local campaign to increase financial and legal literacy of the population. Police officers go around the houses, informing residents about the types of Internet fraud and distributing information materials. In addition, a media plan has been developed jointly with the akimats of the region and Ust-Kamenogorsk, within the framework of which information coverage of the problem is enhanced.
For the effective investigation of crimes, a special department "Cyberpole" has been created at the Police Department of the East Kazakhstan region, which deals with the disclosure of cybercrimes.
