The first regional forum of akims elected from the AMANAT party in the Abai region was held in Semey. The event was attended by Akim of the region Nurlan Urankhaev, chairman of the maslikhat Kuanysh Suleimenov, mayors of cities and districts, heads of departments, deputies, public figures, civil servants, chairmen and executive secretaries of the territorial branch, chairmen of the primary party organization, advisers of the territorial women's wing, students and the media.
The forum was part of a series of similar meetings, which are being held for the first time by the AMANAT party in five regions of the country. The idea of holding such events is connected with the political reforms announced by President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a Message dated September 1, 2020. Then the head of state declared the need for direct elections of rural mayors, emphasizing their importance for the development of local self-government. Today, this has become a reality, which opens up new opportunities for transformation in rural areas.
Opening the forum, Akim of the region Abai Nurlan Urankhayev noted the importance of modernizing the village and increasing its socio-economic potential.
"The village is the cradle of the nation. If we fail to improve the situation in the countryside, it will become a reproach for all of us," he recalled the words of President Tokayev. The head of the region also stressed that within the framework of the Concept of Rural Development for 2023-2027, adopted by the Government, large-scale work is underway in the region to develop infrastructure, improve the quality of social services and support entrepreneurship.

Among the speakers at the forum were Head of the Prevention Department of the Anti—Corruption Agency for the region Nurzhan Tolybekov, Director of the branch of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Asset Abzhakov, Head of the Public Procurement Department Maksut Omirkhanov and editor-in-chief of the information portal "018.kz " Duman Kenzhegazin.
Important aspects of the region's development were highlighted in their reports by Deputy akim of the region Dimitri Garikov, Chairman of the Veterans Council Murat Alin, as well as akims of the city of Kurchatov and several rural districts.
To date, 133 akims have been elected from the AMANAT party in the region. Since the beginning of the year, the mayors of 31 rural districts have been elected. By the end of the year, there will be elections in four more districts.
