14.02.2025 23:55:58 1551The working meeting chaired by the akim of the North Kazakhstan region, Gauez Nurmukhambetov, discussed the issue of preparing for the flood season. The meeting heard reports from the heads of the Emergency Situations Department, Kazhydromet, and district akims in a selector mode.
"Floods are a very important issue for the region. It is necessary to prevent a repeat of last year's situation. Preparatory work is ongoing: repair and engineering work has not stopped for a single day, and even continued in winter," the akim of the region said.
The engineering work plan includes 109 activities, including the following:
✅ 8 protective dams were strengthened
✅ 80 km of dams and embankments were built and strengthened in the region
✅ 108 water pipes and tubing were installed on highways
✅ 10 km of drainage ditches and canals were deepened
✅ 4 km of small river channels were cleaned
✅ 214 km of storm sewer system were cleaned and repaired
✅ The reconstruction of the first lifting pumping station is nearing completion
Taking into account the specifics of last year's flood, additional measures are being implemented:
🔹 Construction of a bypass canal has begun near the Petropavlovsk waterworks. This will prevent the water level in the Yesil River from rising. In order to monitor floods at an early stage and prevent flooding of small areas of the regional center, preliminary discharge of excess water is planned.
🔹 Work is underway to deepen the bottom of river channels and clean the banks near the villages of Sokolovka and Bolshaya Malyshka.
🔹 Preventive blasting is being carried out. Blasting works will be carried out at 49 sites of the Yesil River and small rivers in Petropavlovsk and 8 districts to prevent ice jams and ensure the unhindered flow of meltwater.
"Now is a responsible period for the entire region. State bodies have switched to an enhanced work mode. Preparatory work must be carried out carefully, especially the preliminary preparation of inert materials, bags and special equipment is important. It is also necessary to take into account the opinions and suggestions of local residents," the head of the region noted.
In the near future, consultations will be held in the districts, and the main tasks and priority works will be clarified.
