On February 7, the Governor of Mangystau region Nurdaulet Kilybay met with the Secretary General of the International Turkic Culture Organization (TURKSOY) Sultan Raev. The meeting discussed the organization and holding of the event "Aktau - the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World".
The large-scale cultural project will be solemnly opened in April and will continue until mid-November. During this period, special thematic directions will be set for each month, and about 30 major cultural events will be organized.
A special ethno-town will be built as part of the opening ceremony, which will be attended by more than 500 artists, and seven villages will serve there, presenting the culture and traditions of the Turkic peoples. Guests will be able to get acquainted with the rich history, national traditions, crafts and life of the Mangystau region.
During the meeting, the Secretary General of the TURKSOY organization Sultan Raev emphasized the uniqueness of Aktau among the cultural capitals.
- This year's cultural capital was awarded to the unique city of Aktau on the coast of Kazakhstan. Aktau is unique among the previous cultural capitals with its location on the shores of the Caspian Sea, its historical heritage and modern appearance. Therefore, we believe that art lovers and tourists will come to Aktau not only during this event, but also after it, - said Sultan Raev.
In turn, the regional akim Nurdaulet Kilybay emphasized the importance of the large-scale event and noted that it should be held at a high level.
- This is an important project aimed at increasing the spiritual ties of the Turkic peoples. The fact that Aktau is the cultural capital of the Turkic world is not only a great honor for us, but also a great responsibility. Our main task is to widely introduce our national culture and traditions to visitors to our region, and to promote the common values ​​of the Turkic world. We must use this opportunity to demonstrate the cultural potential of our region at the global level, - said Nurdaulet Kilybay.
It should be noted that in order to pass on the brotherly ties and friendship between Turkic-speaking nations, Turkic culture and art from generation to generation and make it known to the world, theater, cinema, opera, dance, traditional art and many other competitions and festivals, poets' aitys, a symposium of artists of the Turkic world, a festival of craftsmen, historical and scientific conferences, meetings with poets and writers, gatherings dedicated to the life and works of great scholars of the Turkic world, and other meaningful and educational events will be organized with the participation of artists of Turkic-speaking countries.
