Harbin discusses potential for biathlon development in Kazakhstan

The Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerbol Myrzabosynov, the Head of the National Olympic Committee of Kazakhstan, Gennady Golovkin, the Secretary General of the NOC of Kazakhstan, Alimzhan Akayev, and the Secretary General of the Biathlon Union of Kazakhstan, Manas Usenov, met with the President of the International Biathlon Union (IBU), Olli Dallin.
During the meeting, which was held within the framework of the Asian Winter Games in Harbin, the parties discussed the prospects for cooperation in sports science, expanding educational programs for coaches, as well as the possibility of holding World Cup stages in Kazakhstan with the support of the IBU.
Olli Dallin said that the IBU is open to cooperation in various areas, including reducing the gap between the level of training of the Scandinavian countries and other states and creating equal conditions for the development of biathlon around the world.
The IBU President also expressed gratitude to the Kazakh side for establishing the Asian Biathlon Confederation and holding regional championships.
"Kazakhstan is interested in the development of biathlon, and we are also interested in exchanging experience with the IBU, training athletes We are open to cooperation in the field of methodology and scientific and practical knowledge. We intend to hold the World Cup stages in our country under the organization of the IBU. Such sports events will contribute to the promotion of biathlon in our country,” said the Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Yerbol Myrzabosynov.
President of the NOC of Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin noted the importance of international cooperation in the comprehensive development of sports.
“We are convinced that the joint work between the Biathlon Union of Kazakhstan and the IBU is yielding good results. We, for our part, are ready to further strengthen cooperation and expand it in all areas of sports. This will contribute to the qualitative development of the country's sports,” said Gennady Golovkin.
