About 500 athletes from all over the region gathered in Temirtau for the traditional winter sports competitions "White Winter - 2025" between cities and "Snowy Winter - 2025" between rural areas. People of different ages and professions competed in four sports: Presidential all-around, cross-country skiing, speed skating and ice hockey.
Based on the results of all rounds, the teams were awarded places. Among the cities of the region, the Karaganda team received the most points. Athletes from Temirtau came in second place. Shakhtinsk won a bronze medal.
Murat Dauletpay, a resident of Saran, set a personal record. He finished first in the ski race.
At the “Snowy Winter – 2025” sports festival, the participants of the Abay district performed well. The second place went to the team of the Nura district. In third place were the athletes of Osakarov.
In hockey, the team of the Nura district showed good results. It became the best in this sport.
- In recent years, two indoor hockey rinks have been built in our district. One of them is in the village of Shakhterskoye, the other in the village of Nura. They will allow us to develop winter sports. The only thing that is missing today is a children's hockey coach to open a children's section. But we are negotiating with a young specialist, who is ready to come to us under the “With a diploma – to the village!” program. We hope that the coach will come to us. By attracting specialists, we can encourage our athletes to stay in the village, rather than moving to cities just for sports, - believes Igor Pronin, head of the Nura district Youth Sports Committee.
The "White Winter - 2025" and "Snowy Winter - 2025" sports competitions are held annually and are one of the most important winter sports events in the Karaganda region.
