FORUM IN ALMATY: DOMESTIC PHARMACEUTICAL PRODUCTION TO INCREASE BY 22% IN 2024

Last year, the share of domestic pharmaceutical production in Kazakhstan increased by 22% to 171.6 billion tenge. At the same time, over the past 7 years, the volume of investments attracted to the pharmaceutical industry has increased by 9.5 times, Vice Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan Yerzhan Nurlybayev stated to the participants of the 2nd Kazakhstan Pharmaceutical Forum in Almaty.
In order to develop domestic production of medicines and increase their availability, the National Development Plan of Kazakhstan until 2029 provides for measures to expand cooperation with global pharmaceutical corporations, attract investments, transfer technologies and develop new developments to isolate production on the territory of countries.
"The next Kazakhstan Pharmaceutical Forum, which has become a tradition, is one of the effective mechanisms for the government and investors to create conditions for attracting investments in the healthcare sector and developing mutually acceptable solutions aimed at ensuring the development of the country's pharmaceutical industry," Yerzhan Nurlybayev noted.
The forum was attended by more than 200 representatives of regulatory authorities, leading international and local pharmaceutical companies serving the pharmaceutical sector, large enterprises of "SK-Pharmacy", The heads of the National Pharmaceutical Company "QazBioPharm" and the International Association of Pharmaceutical Manufacturers of Kazakhstan will participate.
The forum discussed the development of drug supply systems and the pharmaceutical industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as the reengineering of drug market entry processes within the framework of the "single window".
Representatives of the Committee for Pharmaceutical and Medical Control of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan presented information on the results of the introduction of drug labeling, its impact on the transparency of the supply chain and the availability of drugs for the population. In addition to the priority areas of pharmaceutical activity, the forum discussed topical issues of state control and supervision of the circulation of imported products, including pharmaceutical products.
The topic of using digital solutions in the promotion of medicines in Kazakhstan also aroused particular interest, issues of pricing in the pharmaceutical market of Kazakhstan were raised, conditions were created for the harmonization of regulatory requirements for ensuring the safety and quality of medicines, the effective integration of national and EAEU standards, and information was provided on the principles of forming a list of outpatient drug supplies within the framework of the State Medical Insurance Fund and the Medical Insurance Fund.
