Higher Education School among the top 200: NU held a solemn event
A solemn event was held in honor of Nazarbayev University's entry into the top 176-200 in the prestigious Times Higher Education ranking in the "Education" direction with the participation of the Minister of Science and Higher Education Sayasat Nurbek.
40 representatives of the Higher Education School were awarded various awards and certificates of appreciation, including the badge "For a great contribution to the development of science", the "Akhmet Baitursynuly" honorary badge, the Certificate of Honor "For outstanding achievements in the field of higher and postgraduate education", the Certificate of Honor of the Minister of Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a certificate of appreciation, etc.
Dean of the NU Higher Education School Aida Sagintayeva said in her speech:
"It is important to remember that rankings are not just about numbers. They show real results. The work being done shows that our research is shaping policy, our graduates are becoming leaders in the field of education, and our commitment to innovation, inclusion, and change is changing the situation not only in Kazakhstan, but also around the world. GSB should become a powerful research center, a strong intellectual center, and a leading institution in the field of educational research in our region,” he said.
Since its establishment, the school has trained more than 740 specialists, including 42 PhDs. Among them are the rector of SDU Alimzhan Igenbayev, who currently heads Kazakhstani higher education institutions, Laura Karabasova, rector of Zhubanov University, Renata Apergenova, vice-rector of Kozybayev University, etc.
The Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek spoke about the role of the school in reforming the Kazakhstani education system:
“Pedagogy is not only teaching, but also conducting scientific research, sustainable development. The number of scientific articles related not only to traditional teaching in the world, but also to new technical trends such as the use of artificial intelligence and algorithms is increasing. In addition, there are problems with plagiarism, human-computer interaction is a major issue, and even national strategies have been developed on this topic. That is why the Higher School of Education at Nazarbayev University is very important to us, which not only timely revises the scientific content, but also provides scientific support for the reforms and processes taking place in the education system. "
NU President Dr. Vakar Ahmad noted the importance of the GSB's leadership in the educational reform of Kazakhstan and the initiative to develop the potential of local personnel, the quality of the teaching staff, their scientific research and publications, and effective projects in the development of the education system.
The school trains specialists in two master's programs - Master of Science in Educational Management and Master of Humanities in Multilingual Education, as well as PhDs in Education. Over the past eleven years, more than 27 thousand people have received education in various educational programs of the School of Higher Education.
The School intends to further develop: to update academic programs, expand educational programs to include other key areas, award double degrees to students in collaboration with other NU schools and renowned international institutions, increase the effectiveness of their research, develop the School as a research center for educational innovations in Central Asia, expand external cooperation and share accumulated experience.
