Singers with disabilities from the city of Abai have received international recognition

Five years ago, the Birlik creative group was formed in Abai, Karaganda region, which brought together talented people with disabilities. Over the years, special artists have been recognized not only in the region, but also in the country. And now international recognition has been received. Four band members performed at the festival in Turkey and were awarded the Grand Prix and diplomas of the first degree.
The IX International Festival-competition of creativity "Showmir House of the Sun of Turkey" was held in Kemer. About 400 artists from different countries showed their skills.
Kazakhstan was represented by singers from Abai – Korlan Bazhieva, Hamit Dostakhin, Murat Sultan, Ayymgul Kuangan-kyzy. The district authorities and sponsors helped with the trip to Turkey.
According to the regulations of the competition, each participant had to submit two songs – folk and modern.
Korlan Bazhieva won the Grand Prix in the nomination "Vocal singing". She performed the Kazakh folk song "Hululim-ai" and the song "Ariayday". The jury appreciated the range and beauty of the voice.
The rest of the participants received I degree diplomas for solo performance and vocal duet.
Abai residents presented books with the works of the great Kazakh poet and educator to the Kemer City Hall.
Participation in the international competition is a great experience and an opportunity to open the way to the big stage, the team notes.
The creative group "Birlik" is based in the regional House of Culture of Abai.
"Now there are 18 performers in it. All of them have disabilities. The diagnosis is different: there are blind people with cerebral palsy, a violation of the musculoskeletal system. people with disabilities due to common diseases. But all the participants are united by the love of creativity," the House of Culture said.
