How to use digital tools to prevent drug crime and promote a healthy lifestyle among young people was discussed in the capital during a round table held within the framework of the project "ESIRTKISIZ ELORDA — Deni sau urpak", the official website of the Mayor's Office of Astana reports.
The organizers of the round table were the IDC "Astana Zhastary" with the support of the Department for Youth Policy of Astana city and the Department for Combating Drug Crime of the Metropolitan Police Department.
Thus, to increase the effectiveness of drug crime prevention, the ESBOL QORY Foundation has developed an information system. According to the head of the foundation and a member of the Youth Policy Council under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Zhandos Aktayev, more than 4,000 drug shops have been blocked using the information system over the past 2.5 years.
"For example, ads with tempting salaries for questionable work. Our moderators check such ads according to the criteria of viral narcotic content," Zhandos Aktaev explained.
Also this summer, the foundation launched a pilot version of the digital drug crime map for Astana. It should be noted that the organization works together with law enforcement agencies.
"Anyone witnessing suspicious activity can mark a location on the map anonymously. This will help to increase civic engagement in the fight against crime," explained the head of the foundation.
Director of the Civil Alliance of Kazakhstan Murat Omashev, in turn, noted the importance of publicizing information on criminal liability for drug crimes in popular social networks.
"It is important to show what participation in the drug business leads to, so that people are aware of the possible consequences," he said.
At the end of the round table, Talgat Asylgazhin, head of the Renaissance Rehabilitation Center program, noted the importance of using digital tools and stressed the importance of wastewater analysis to identify areas where drugs, especially synthetic drugs, are actively used.
"Although synthetics officially ranks third among drugs, in my opinion it is more widespread," he added.
At the end of the event, the participants stressed the need to strengthen cooperation between government and public structures to create an integrated approach to drug crime prevention and promote a healthy lifestyle among young people.
