On November 14, 2024, under the leadership of the Minister of Industry and Construction of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kanat Sharlapayev, a meeting was held with the Chinese company Xinjiang Lihua (Group) Co., Ltd. (Xinjiang Lihua Group) on the implementation of the project to create a cotton and textile cluster in the Turkestan region (Lihua Group).
Xinjiang Lihua (Group) Co. is one of the largest companies in China in the field of cotton cultivation and its deep processing. The company specializes in the production of light industry products, such as cotton yarn and fabrics, finished textiles.
The meeting was attended by Chairman of the Committee of Industry Azamat Panbayev, Akim of Turkestan region
Darkhan Satybaldy, as well as the head of the Chinese company "K&K 86 LTD" Xu Jie.
The joint project provides for the creation of a cotton and textile cluster at the TURAN SEZ in the Turkestan region.
The project is expected to be implemented in 2 phases and includes the construction of the following facilities: a plant for the production of PVC pipes; a plant for the production of drip irrigation systems; 2 cotton processing plants; a spinning mill; a weaving factory for the production of linen; a dyeing and finishing factory; a sewing factory.
The total cost of the project is 180 billion tenge, with the creation of more than 4 thousand jobs when fully implemented.
To date, a drip irrigation system has been installed and sowing operations have been carried out on an area of 1,120 hectares. The yield of cotton was 55 kg/ha. The construction of a spinning mill has begun.
The Minister noted the importance of the implementation of this project for the development of light industry in Kazakhstan and the need to provide comprehensive assistance in its support.
