The Department of Public Finance Reporting and Statistics was established in the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2004 as part of the implementation of the provisions of the country's First Budget Code. The main task of the Department is the reporting and development of public finance statistics in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Over the past 20 years, the Department has significantly expanded its functional responsibilities for reporting and statistics of public finances both within the republic and abroad.
Preparatory work is underway on the draft of the third Budget Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan on:
reporting on the execution of the consolidated budget and extra-budgetary funds;
expansion of the composition of the annual report on the execution of the republican budget;
formation and placement of the civil budget and the budget of public participation in three languages (state, Russian and English) in open access;
mutually beneficial cooperation with international organizations and rating agencies on public finance statistics;
implementation of the initiative of budget openness and increase of budget literacy of the population by publishing statistical collections "Statistics of public finances of the Republic of Kazakhstan" (2023), "Performance of indicators of the International Index of Budget Openness" (2023), "Statistics of the State budget of the Republic of Kazakhstan for 1991-2023" (2024) in the state, Russian and English languages with open access;
automation of the "Government Reserve" and "Government Annual Report" functionality, etc.
