The work of the day center for children with mental disabilities in Zhetisu gives results
16.11.2024 18:58:59 1914The day care center for children with autism and other mental disorders, opened in Taldykorgan in May last year, works on the basis of international experience in the rehabilitation of children. During this year, 174 children received treatment, some of them have crossed the threshold of school and are studying with their peers. To date, 124 children are being treated here, the press service of the akim of the Zhetisu region reports.
The center has 125 seats. Special social services are provided here - social, household, medical, pedagogical, psychological, labor, cultural, economic and socio-legal. They come here according to the direction of the PMPC and an individual rehabilitation plan. They work with the kids for four and a half hours a day. Parents note the positive dynamics in children's health.
- My son Madiyar and I came here right from the moment of opening, on May 31 last year. When my child crossed the threshold of the Center, he did not speak. He is already talking, he can express his thoughts in two or three words. Communicates with peers and caregivers. I am very grateful to all the staff of the center, thank them for the success of my son," says Ainur Kenzhebekova, a mother with many children.
The center employs doctors of various profiles - psychiatrists, neuropathologists, speech pathologists, speech therapists, educators, pediatricians, specialists in ABA therapy – behavioral sciences. There is an art therapy room, a music room, a physical therapy room, and pottery, carpentry and sewing workshops for the development of creative skills.
– Our main task is to provide a range of high–quality services aimed at overcoming emerging social problems and creating equal opportunities for participation in society. We make every effort to make children feel comfortable, to create a friendly atmosphere around them, which is very important for rehabilitation. Children with disabilities between the ages of 1.5 and 18 are also accepted here. Currently, 109 employees work at the center," said Gulnaz Auelbekova, Deputy director of the center.
In general, there are 8 centers for the provision of special social services to children under 18 years of age in hospital and semi-hospital conditions in the region. 450 special children are currently receiving services in these centers.
