A fire-tactical exercise was conducted at Shymkent airport to eliminate a fire on an aircraft.
According to the tactical plan, a conditional fire arose as a result of an emergency landing of an AN-24 aircraft en route from Almaty to Shymkent. There are 48 passengers and 4 crew members on board. There was a breakdown of the landing gear, as a result of the destruction of the engine and the right fuel tank, fuel was filled and ignited. Employees of the airport's search and rescue flight support service, together with firefighters and rescuers of the city, carried out the elimination of the aircraft fire, the rescue of the crew and passengers.
The purpose of the exercise was to train the skills of personnel to work in an emergency situation, as well as to work out the interaction of airport departments and city services. At the end of the exercise, a review was conducted and the results were summed up.
