The grand opening of the Kazakhstan Judo Championship took place in Aktobe.
Akim of Aktobe region Askhat Shakharov, Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov and President of the Judo Federation Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev took part in it. The celebration was also attended by Kazakh judoka, Olympic champion of 2024 Eldos Smetov. The guests of the event congratulated the participants of the championship on its opening and wished them success in the competition.
In his congratulation, Askhat Shakharov emphasized the importance of the fact that the judo championship is being held in Aktobe and expressed gratitude to the Minister of Tourism and Sports for the trust shown.
"The Head of State pays great attention to the development of sports in Kazakhstan. New sports complexes are being built all over the country, training bases and sports schools are being modernized. Kazakhstanis are eagerly watching this championship. The bright victories of our judoists Eldos Smetov and Gusman Kyrgyzbaev at the Olympics in Paris inspire a new generation of athletes to win.
It is gratifying that this championship is being held on Aktobe land, which has a rich history in judo, having educated talented athletes such as Salamat Utarbayev, Rustam Ibrayev, Gulnar Kusherbayeva, Eset Kuanov and many others. I am sure that this championship will become a powerful incentive to popularize judo among the youth of the region, attract attention to the sport and help educate a new generation of champions," Askhat Shakharov said at the opening of the championship.
The Governor of the region thanked everyone who contributed to the organization of the event and wished the participants of the competition a fair fight, and the audience bright emotions and support for their teams.
Minister of Tourism and Sports Yerbol Myrzabosynov wished bright victories on the tatami to the participants of the competition.
"Thanks to the support of the state, all conditions are being created for the education of a new generation of champions, which strengthens Kazakhstan's position in world sports. Today, the names of many Kazakhstani judoists have already entered the history of world sports. They are an example of perseverance, skill and perseverance. This championship will be an important stage in the development of judo in our country and will inspire new stars to win," said Erbol Myrzabosynov.
President of the Judo Federation Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev, in turn, focused on the high level of training of athletes and expressed confidence that the tournament would give bright fights and become an incentive for the further development of judo.
After the official opening ceremony of the championship, the President of the Kazakhstan Judo Federation Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev solemnly presented Olympic champion Eldos Smetov with a gold stripe symbolizing the highest sporting achievements.
Minister of Tourism and Sports Erbol Myrzabosynov awarded two-time world champion Abiba Abuzhakynova with the honorary certificate of "Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan".
Recall that for four days from November 15 to 18, judo competitions from all over the country are held in the Konys sports complex. 510 athletes from 17 regions, as well as from Astana, Almaty and Shymkent, take part in the championship. Athletes compete for medals in seven weight categories.
The winners of the championship will be included in the National team of the country.
