The opening ceremony of the Kazakhstan Judo Championship among men and women took place in Aktobe. The event was attended by Minister of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Erbol Myrzabosynov, Akim of Aktobe region Askhat Shakharov and President of the Judo Federation of Kazakhstan Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev.
Speaking to the participants and guests of the competition, Erbol Myrzabosynov stressed the important role of sport in strengthening the health of the nation, educating youth and forming patriotism. He noted that the success of Kazakhstani judo in the international arena is a clear evidence of effective state support and systemic development of the industry.
"President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pays special attention to the development of sports, which allows our athletes to achieve significant success. Kazakhstani judoists continue to inspire the nation with their bright victories. The gold medal of Eldos Smetov and the bronze award of Gusman Kirghizbayev at the Paris Olympics have become a source of pride for millions of Kazakhstanis. Obtaining the right to host the World Judo Championship in 2027 confirms the high level of our judo school. The younger generation of athletes honorably defends the colors of the national flag at major international tournaments, winning prestigious awards. These achievements clearly demonstrate the right direction of judo development in Kazakhstan," the Minister said.
As part of the ceremony, Erbol Myrzabosynov presented the certificate "Honored Master of Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan" to two-time World Championships medalist Abiba Abuzhakynova. President of the Judo Federation of Kazakhstan Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev noted the contribution of Olympic champion Eldos Smetov, presenting him with a personalized gold patch.
510 athletes from Astana, Almaty, Shymkent and all regions of the country participate in the championship. The competition will last until November 18. Following the results of the championship, the composition of the national judo team will be formed for performances in the 2025-2026 sports seasons.
