Preparations for the flood period in Pavlodar region are in full swing

In order to minimize the threats of flooding in the upcoming flood period, the Department of Emergency Situations of the Pavlodar region is carrying out a set of preventive measures. The Department has developed a plan of comprehensive measures approved by the decree of the Akimat of the region, according to which 36 events are planned. In addition, according to the engineering work plan, 47 events are planned, many of which have already been completed.
So, in the village of Zhalauly, Aktogay district, a protective embankment has been erected, with a length of 2 km, three pits with a capacity of 200 thousand cubic meters, which will effectively protect the settlement from meltwater.
In the village of Sholaksor, as part of the Flood Control Roadmap in 2023, work was completed to strengthen the banks of the Seleta River, clear and deepen the bottom, the riverbed of this river, which made it possible to prevent flooding of the settlement this year.
Based on the norm of precipitation and floods in recent years, work has been carried out on the installation of artificial structures, increasing the height and strengthening existing embankments in flood-prone areas of the settlements of Atamenken, Kenzhekol, Pavlodar, Aksu, villages of Aktogay, Pavlodar districts, which will contribute to the retention of meltwater.
"The repair of the Aktogay-Sholaksor highway of regional significance, the total length of which is 15 km, has been completed in full. Culverts have been repaired at this site, which will increase the capacity of meltwater. As part of the implementation of the engineering work plan, three similar culverts have been installed on the access road to the village of Karakuduk in the Irtysh region," said Rustambek Amrin, head of the Emergency Department of the region.
In addition, to prevent the threat of flooding of the settlement, work has been carried out to deepen the bottom of the Talinka River in the village of Zhambyl, Aktogay district. In the steppe zone of the village of Rozovka in the Pavlodar region, drainage channels have been carried out, which operate on the principle of drainage and are designed to divert meltwater from settlements.
"Within the framework of the republican Road Map of flood prevention measures for 2021-2023, 7 measures were envisaged, which are currently being implemented. For example, the construction of two bridges on the Kalkaman-Bayanauyl and Umutker-Botakara highways has been completed, which will help prevent destruction, overflow of highways and unhindered passage of flood and meltwater," the head of the Emergency Department said.
Work on preparing the region for the upcoming flood period is under special control and will continue.
